Time Spent with Duluth : A Pictoral Documentary
The place where I rest my feet (and snowshoes) at the end of the day. Here is my first entry of perhaps several more similar ones as I wanted to make an entry into the pictorial world that is Duluth Minnesota. I have not yet put together a collection of my own pictures of Duluth yet I found many photos online that do a good job of showcasing the more beautiful aspects of living in Duluth.
I have to say, Duluth is one of the more photogenic cities in the Midwest and the Great Lakes Region, and I just so happens that its the city that I currently have made home. As far as the people, well there are many whom I've grown to befriend and make me feel a part of this community, but as for politics here, well that's another story. This story is about what makes Duluth such a beautiful place, and naturally because of that some of my favorite things and places in Duluth, and some others where I like to be and or occasionally spend time at.
Children Playing in the Spring in Canal Park, Near the Lift Bridge
the Lift Bridge, taken from the Rose Garden at Lief Erickson Park
Many of Duluth's Streets and Homes are built upon its steep hillside. In this Picture You can also see the large Communications Towers rising above the skyline. These are lit up at night and add to the beauty of the skyline.
View of Lake Superior and Duluth. Being built essentially on very big hill, has many beautiful vistas, This One is taken from atop at the Gazebo at Enger Park In Duluth.
A shot of Enger tower looking up at one of the steeper slopes in Duluth
Enger Park in the spring, and Enger Tower, I should visit this spot more often. Such great Views from here
Enger Tower in the Fall
This is the crazy intersection of Piedmont Avenue, hwy 53,highway 2, and Interstate 35, and the Local Railroads. Some call it the "Can of Worms" It also Hops over part of west Duluth.
This picture is most likely taken from the Duluth's Famous Skyline Parkway a road Which winds throughout Duluth's ridge top neighborhoods, with rocky overlooks and many such scenic routes which are open to driving sightseers year round.
A nighttime shot from the same location. Duluth's "Can of Worms"
More of Duluth's Scenic Roads Piedmont (Hwy 53) I get to see this view driving each night back from the TV station
Piedmont again, as a newly reconstructed expressway finished last year. Its a lot more efficient than the old 2 lane Hwy and dreadful 6 corners intersection which used to be there. It drives up the side of the step Duluth hillside, up to Lake Superior College, the Duluth Heights neighborhood, and The Mall.
Mesaba Avenue looking at the Harbor of the St Louis River
A shot of the scenic Skyline Parkway in the fall.
An artist's rendition for the now completed bypass of Skyline Parkway over Piedmont Avenue / Hwy 53
One of many more shots of the intriguing Lift Bridge in Duluth
A Ship coming into harbor under the Lift Bridge in Duluth
The Nightlife and the Lift Bridge looking from the Pier.
Yep this is also the Lift Bridge... on what more than likely appears to be a late winter evening.
The Blatnick Highbridge
The Blatnick Again
The Bong Bridge in the distance over a spance of the frozen Harbor
an Icebreaker heading into harbor through the Lift Bridge
A ship using the canal, the Lift Bridge at work.
A time exposure Of Lake superior. Looking toward the Lift Bridge from the Lakewalk. Taken by a great photographer in the area.
The Veterans of War Memorial, and Park Point
Lift Bridge and the Rose Garden again
Fireworks in Duluth
Another Shot of the lakewalk
Dont let Duluth's peaceful photos lull you to sleep, a monster is just off shore, Huge waves crashing against the Southeast pier Lighouse of the Park Point Ship Canal durring a huge late fall storm. I hope the ships were in safe harbor!
A train drawbridge near West Duluth and Superiors Bong Bridge.
A ship in anchor in the Superior side harbor, likely for repairs in the winter
The Drawbridge again.
Hey this looks familiar!- the Drawbridge again. (taken from the Blatnick, looking toward Wisconsin)
A favorite spot for locals, and tourists visiting duluth. Canal Park, on Lake Avenue, and its shops hotels and restaurants. Notice the Liftbridge again in the background
DeWet-Seitz Marketplace Building and Lake Avenue in Canal Park
Lake Avenue, Looking up the Hillside toward downtown and the Hillside Neighborhood.Fitgers Brewery Complex, one of my favorite places to spend some of my time rest in this building, the Brewhouse fries are excellent, and I particularly like thier microbrew, brewed in kettles within the restaurant.
The Aurora Borealis Making an Apearance in Duluth.
Bayfront Park
A typical assortment of rocks along the Lake Superior Shoreline.
Another local attraction would be the nearby Munger Trail, extending for many miles from West Duluth into Hinkley in central Minnesota. Ive usually biked the 30 mile roundtrip section from Duluth to Carlton. Yes, im usually a little sore the next day.
A map of the Munger Trail, Someday it might be nice to bike the whole stretch, but that will be difficult, particularly if it someday connects the trail spaning a large portion of the North Shore of lake superior as well.
Wade Sadium. This place is just a few blocks from my house!
Wade Stadium again
A fitting end, my grand finalle'. Fireworks from Duluths 2006 independence day fireworks display.I hope you Enjoyed your stay. Come Back Soon!

I miss Duluth now! At least I'll be up in a couple weeks for Spence's wedding.
We know enough people that like biking, next summer we should organize a bike trip along the munger trail. We could pack a lunch and stop halfway through the day and then turn around.
